On Saturday the 9th of June the Charles Darwin University Centre for Youth and & Community Music (CYCM) will hold an Ensemble Concert for its junior activities.
The CYCM provides instrumental music education for about 350 youngsters from ages three years and upwards, on a weekly basis and throughout the year. Twice a year the young budding musicians get an opportunity to strut their stuff and show off what they have achieved in their Ensemble groups. “The Ensemble concerts are a great opportunity for the young players to get some performance experience from an early age,” said Professor Martin Jarvis OAM former Artistic Director of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. “And, many of these young musicians will graduate, in due course, and become players in the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, and thereby build a great hobby for their lifetime. And, I certainly would encourage members of the general the public to show their support and come and hear the children perform.”
The concert begins at 9am with the very small children, and the older children begin their performances at 10am in the University Theatre Orange 3. The performance concludes with the Darwin Youth Orchestra, conducted by Tara Murphy.
