Charles Darwin University invites the community to attend its annual Open Day on Sunday 26 August for a day of cultural activities, interactive workshops and free entertainment for the entire family.
The CDU Open Day event program provides plenty of opportunities to get hands-on, from operating a Lego robot with an android phone, to watching a crocodile dissection and making hand cream.
The event will provide an opportunity to explore the campus’s new facilities, meet inspiring staff and discover what makes CDU one of the top four hundred universities in the world.
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover said the Open Day was an opportunity for people to find out more about how the university was contributing to improving Territorians’ quality of life through research, teaching and training and partnerships.
“Visitors can expect to leave Open Day with a great sense of pride in the Territory’s university and a deeper understanding of the opportunities we offer,” Professor Glover said.
Future students can find all the information needed to guide their study decisions at the one place, with knowledgeable staff on hand to explain flexible study options, training and qualification interests and the enrolment process.
The full day of free live entertainment includes Bollywood dancing, Mbackeh African Drumming, Shellie Morris and legendary local act, The Neo. There’s also plenty in store for children, including Dora the Explorer live on stage, a jumping castle, rides and competitions.
Open Day is a perfect opportunity to take in the 2012 Darwin Festival’s visual arts displays in three of CDU’s art galleries.
Complementing the Open Day’s cultural entertainment feast will be a great range of food and beverage stalls coordinated by community groups such as Kiwanis and the Congolese Community.
The CDU Open Day will run from 10am to 3pm on Sunday 26 August. For further information, view the program at http://www.cdu.edu.au/openday/index.html.
