The Charles Darwin University (CDU) Bachelor of Social Work program has received full accreditation by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover congratulated CDU staff on the successful reaccreditation for five years from 2010 to 2014.
CDU Associate Professor of Social Work Deborah West said social workers were vital in the areas of child protection, justice, health and community based services. “There is a high demand for social workers particularly those with knowledge of the challenges that are faced in remote Australia,” she said.
“The CDU social work program provides the knowledge and skills required to work in remote Australia, while also meeting the national accreditation requirements that will allow graduates to work throughout Australia.”
The AASW has commended CDU’s School of Health Science on the outcome of the review and the continued development of the Social Work program.
