Charles Darwin University’s Alice Springs campus will open its doors to the public on Thursday, March 31 to showcase the best the university has to offer in Central Australia.
The open day will include information sessions, campus tours, interactive displays and demonstrations.
Entertainment will include a live performance by Triple J Unearthed winners and local band “The Moxie”.
Rock star wannabes can see a hands-on demonstration of the latest music software at the new state of the art music studio, and budding film makers can view student documentaries, short films, ads and interactive multimedia projects and the new multimedia facility.
Free blood pressure checks and first aid tips will be on offer at the interactive nursing laboratory stations.
The university’s Mobile Adult Learning Units will be open to showcase how these “classrooms on wheels” deliver training to people in remote parts of the Territory.
And local industry leaders will be on hand for those wanting to learn about trade careers along with live demonstrations of CDU VET courses, including hairdressing, construction, welding, diesel automotive and electrical.
Lectures on the latest in CDU research in Central Australia including controversial topics such as feral camel management, buffel grass, "The Population Debate for Australia - where do we fit in?" and “Why do some people gamble?" will also run throughout the event.
