CDU lecture series honours Austin Asche 

 
 
The Honourable Austin Asche AC QC helps to officially open the Northern Territory University in 1989

The first in an annual lecture series that honours the contribution of The Honourable Austin Asche AC QC to the Northern Territory community will be held at Charles Darwin University this week.

The Inaugural Austin Asche Oration in Law and Governance will be held each year in honour of the former Northern Territory Administrator and Chief Justice of the Northern Territory Supreme Court, who was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia for service to the law, to tertiary education and to the community, particularly the people of the Northern Territory in 1994.

At this year’s event the current Chief Justice of the Northern Territory Supreme Court, The Honourable Trevor Riley, will provide some thoughts on Austin Ashe’s contribution to the Northern Territory and the nation generally. He will be followed by The Honourable Patrick Keane, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia, who will deliver the inaugural oration.

The Inaugural Austin Asche Oration in Law and Governance will be held on Thursday, 20 October from 5:30 to 7:30pm at CDU Casuarina campus, Mal Nairn Auditorium. The event is free and open to members of the public.
