CDU students shine at Young Achievers Awards 

 
 

The countless hours spent perfecting his trade has paid dividends for the 2011 Northern Territory Young Achiever of the Year, Daniel Walton.

Daniel, a former commercial cookery apprentice with Charles Darwin University, was presented with the Northern Territory Government Career Achievement Award in addition to the overall Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year Award at the weekend.

An executive chef at the Santa Fe Café in Berrimah, Daniel has worked in some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants perfecting his craft and increasing his passion for food.

CDU was well represented by a number of past and present students at the 2011 Awards, with several taking out the top gong in their respective award categories.

Other CDU winners on the night included: Jacinta Kelly, Power and Water Science and Engineering Award, Daly Kelly, Somerville Community Services Award, Samantha Penny, Department of Health and Families Young Carer’s Award, and Benjamin Campbell, ConocoPhillips Environment Award.

The Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards are presented by Channel Nine, Imparja Television and the Darwin / Palmerston Sun and recognise achievements of young Territorians.
