The Northern Territory Government has unveiled the concept plans to deliver first class sporting facilities in Palmerston that will deliver significant upgrades across five sports.
As part of the $33 million parent project, the Palmerston Magpies AFL facilities at CDU’s Palmerston campus will receive a complete overhaul.
Four light towers, two grandstands housing 600 fans, an air-conditioned clubhouse, two new change rooms, an electronic scoreboard and major resurfacing work are all on the drawing board for the oval.
Other work includes draining upgrades for the oval, new solid fencing to screen from the roadway and the extension of the existing car park to cater for 110 spaces.
CDU is awaiting detailed plans for further review and approval or amendment as appropriate.
The project is set to create a new sporting hub for the Palmerston’s sporting community and will deliver valuable upgrades across tennis, netball, AFL, rugby league and football.
Tenders for the project are set to be called for in August with construction expected to begin by November 2010.
