Charles Darwin University has named a joint venture between CIC Australia Ltd (CIC) and the Larrakia Development Corporation (LDC) as its preferred partner in the proposed urban subdivision on a portion of Palmerston campus.
The May meeting of the CDU Council gave the go ahead for the university to proceed to the next stage in the development process.
CIC and LDC’s successful bid resulted from a nationwide call for expressions of interest in partnering with the university for the project.
CIC Australia CEO Col Alexander said: “This is an excellent opportunity to continue the great working relationship we have built with the LDC during the development of Lyons and we now look forward to working with CDU to develop the contract for the proposed joint venture.”
LDC Chairman Koolpinyah Barnes echoed these sentiments, adding: “The partnership has produced a unique opportunity for LDC to achieve successful outcomes through this new project at CDU Palmerston.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover said the university would begin negotiating with CIC and Larrakia soon to develop a contract to cover the proposed joint venture.
This stage of the process was expected to take two to three months.
The proposed urban development involves 55ha of the Palmerston campus, which comprises 127ha.
