CDU student shows the way to young people

CDU's Kevin Kadirgamar has been named the winner of the Youth Leadership category at the 2010 NT Young Achievers Awards.

Kevin Kadirgamar has been recognised among the cream of the current young crop of Territorians during the recent NT Young Achievers Awards.

The Charles Darwin University (CDU) student won the Youth Leadership category at the Awards on 10 April.

“The entire awards night was a real testament to the great potential the Territory’s future holds,” Kevin said.

Kevin, 21, is in his fourth year of a Bachelor of Laws and Business (Management) at CDU. He said he only decided to enrol in the course late in Year 12, but was now glad he chose it.

Nominated last year for the Youth Leadership Award, Kevin said it was a great feeling to be recognised from among the many inspiring young leaders in the Territory.

“It was an honour just to be recognised as the same calibre as other finalists, let alone to win the category.”

Kevin said he would like to stay on and contribute to the Territory after he graduated.

“Choosing to study law and business at Charles Darwin is one decision I’ll never regret,” Kevin said.

When asked whether he had any advice for future youth leaders, his message was simple: “Make the most of your opportunities. Never underestimate what you can achieve and how much of an impact you can have.”
