Student interest in CDU continues to grow

The substantial growth in Charles Darwin University’s student population looks set to continue with the university making more than 1500 offers in the January round.

Already, applications for undergraduate courses are up about 10 per cent on last year and CDU’s offers so far for 2010 have risen by the same amount.

The introduction of several new courses and the continuing trend of increased interest in health courses have contributed to the figures for this year.

Applications and offers for the Bachelor Engineering and Diploma of Network Engineering have doubled, with offers for the Diploma of Engineering up 47 per cent, compared with last year.

Nursing and Social Work continue to be strong performers with applications and offers up more than 40 and 45 per cent, respectively.

Other courses attracting significant increases include Humanitarian and Community Studies, Exercise and Sports Science, and Law.

New degrees in Early Childhood Teaching have attracted more than 44 first preference applications, with 31 offers for places made so far.

CDU is still accepting applications to most undergraduate and postgraduate courses for 2010. Apply through SATAC or contact CDU.

The next official round of University offers will be made on February 4 2010.
