Nominations called for student positions on CDU Council

Nominations are being called for two positions on the Charles Darwin University Council:

• one person elected by and from the undergraduate students of the University.

• one person elected by and from the postgraduate students of the University.

Nominations must be in writing and adhere to the Charles Darwin University (Election of Members of Council) By-laws. The nomination form can be downloaded from www.cdu.edu.au/nominationform.pdf.

Along with the completed nomination form, candidates are invited to submit a statement of 200 words or less, relating to their candidacy, for circulation to voters.

Members of the Council must act solely in the interest of the University and not as a delegate or representative of a particular constituency.

Nominations must reach the Returning Officer by 12noon, Friday 27 November 2009. Completed nominations should be emailed in Word format to governance@cdu.edu.au.

If at the close of nominations the number of candidates for a particular election exceeds the number of members required to be elected, a ballot will be conducted to choose the number required. The ballot will be conducted by electronic voting.

The voting period opens on Wednesday 2 December 2009 and closes at 4pm on Wednesday 9 December 2009.
