Australian Culinary Federation members recently descended on Charles Darwin University’s Palmerston campus for the third annual Northern Territory regional finals of the Nestle Golden Chef’s Hat awards.
A total of six teams from the NT’s finest culinary establishments went head to head hoping to earn a place at the national finals to be held in Sydney in September.
Taking the top spot this year were the Waterfront Bistro’s Tommy Jong and Jessica Cocanauto with an elaborate 3 course menu.
Andrew Chan and William Jolley, also from the Waterfront Bistro, shared the silver medal with Ben Phasey and David Griffin, from PeeWees Resaurant.
Bronze went to Terri Rose Canning and Timothy Nicolson, from Sky City Casino.
Judges said the standard of food presented at this year’s regional final was truly exceptional and that the bar had been well and truly raised.
