Charles Darwin University Bachelor of Education student, Rebecca Evans has been awarded the Order of Australia Association Foundation (OAAF) Scholarship.
Rebecca met with CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover, OAAF Chairman Hugh Morgan, and OAAF Secretary Brian O’Keeffe this week to accept the scholarship.
Established to recognise, celebrate and encourage young Australians to realise their potential, the $40,000 OAAF Scholarship is aimed at supporting the next generation of Australian leaders.
Rebecca said she was thrilled to receive such a prestigious scholarship and for the opportunity to have an ongoing mentor relationship with an eminent member of the OAAF.
“I’m absolutely over the moon at being awarded the Foundation Scholarship and I thank Mr Morgan and Mr O’Keefe for their kindness and generosity,” she said.
“The scholarship takes away a huge financial burden and will allow me to focus on my studies.”
While on campus Mr Morgan and Mr O’Keefe also met with Professor Glover and Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Leadership, Professor Steven Larkin to learn more about CDU’s Indigenous Leadership programs.
The Order of Australia Association Foundation continues to support the next generation of leaders by helping promising young Australians from all walks of life to achieve their potential. Each year the Foundation sponsors scholarships for young Australian students in their early years of tertiary study.
