Charles Darwin University‘s (CDU) People Management and Development (PMD) will be promoting DeveloPD, a web-based online learning portal for the flexible delivery of e-learning courses.
A special DeveloPD showcase event will be held on Friday, 20 March, to give University staff, students and alumni access to more than 3500 free courses covering business and professional development, IT and computer software programs.
The online portal, operating through provider SkillSoft, also includes Books24x7, the largest online book resource offering complete unabridged contents of the latest and best business and technology books.
DeveloPD Coordinator Sashi Kiran said PMD is pleased to be able to provide high-quality, instructionally effective learning and performance support tools for use of staff in training and development, continuing education and e-learning resource in campus libraries.
“As courses will be offered over the Internet, DeveloPD can be accessed any time, day or night by busy professionals, University students, alumni and staff looking to enrich their lives by using technology to access education.”
PMD General Manager, Human Resources Operations, Dr Janis Shaw, said “it is acknowledged widely that online learning is an effective and cost-efficient way to enable adult learning. DeveloPD will be integrated into CDU’s Performance and Development Review System, and an ongoing marketing and communication program will be implemented to increase its usage.
Wade Halvorson, Director of Westinfo Services, SkillSoft’s partner, will be at CDU to support the promotion, to present seminars on the unique features of DeveloPD, and to train staff administrators.
DeveloPD will be showcased on Friday, 20 March at 12.00pm at the Mal Nairn Auditorium.
