CDU’s 2009 scholarship winners include two future engineers, a pharmacy student and a preservice teacher.
The first year students were presented with their awards by CDU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Barney Glover and Dean of the Faculty of Education, Health and Science, Professor Graham Pegg.
Professor Glover said the recipients were among the top young minds in the NT and CDU had recognised and rewarded their scholastic achievements.
“It is a challenge being a student these days, academically and economically.
“These awards not only help to ease the financial burden of study, but they also encourage the students to continue excelling in their chosen fields.”
Bachelor of Engineering students Lachlan Prescott and Joanna Winslade were awarded Vice-Chancellor’s prizes, valued at $6000 each over one year of study.
Dean’s Scholarship winners were Melanie James (Bachelor of Pharmacy) and Chanelle Prossor (Bachelor of Teaching and Learning - preservice). The Dean’s Scholarships were valued at $21,000 each over four years, including $6000 for the first year of study.
