It was a happy day for Mishka, and her many friendly friends, when Try’a Trade sponsors and participants delivered 13 newly constructed, and 10 brightly coloured revamped dog beds to the Shelter today.

Mishka, a long term resident of the RSPCA was very excited to meet everyone, and after testing out the bed, gave them all the ‘lick’ of approval.

Try’aTrade Carpentry Skill Coaches Byron and Simon from Beare Homes, along with Matt O’Keeffe from PW Baxter & Associates joined forces with 500 Yr 9 Secondary School Students from Darwin, Palmerston and Rivers Regions to construct and paint the desperately needed dog beds.

Skill Coach, Byron said, “I was very impressed with the genuine level of interest shown by the students and once they were told where the dog beds were going, they made an extra effort to ensure their workmanships was of high quality”.

CEO of the RSPCA Jayne Porter said, “It was heartfelt delighted when I was contacted by Trisha Kohlweg, Charles Darwin University Try’a Trade committee member.  The RSPCA Darwin welcomes every opportunity to be involved with community programmes, especially those developed for young people.  We and the puppies are so grateful, especially to the Business, who donated their time and the Sponsors, Nortruss and Wattyl for donating top quality products.  So it’s a big thank you to everyone involved! For all the hard work and great workmanship and of course a WOOF! WOOF! for combining an educationally valued event with a equally purposeful and valued outcome”.
