From Austria to Oklahoma, the first wave of international students has arrived on campus ready to commence their study abroad exchange programs.
A total of 23 exchange students from seven countries will call Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Top End home during their studies for semester two.
Barbara Herzog and Barbara Altenbuchner, from Salzburg University of Applied Science in Austria, recently arrived at CDU’s Casuarina campus and couldn’t wait to experience Darwin’s rich culture.
Studying a Bachelor of Design and Product Management and a Bachelor of Information Technology respectively, the young women said they were looking forward to making new friends and undertaking subjects which would contribute to their degrees in Austria.
Second-year Arts student from Oklahoma State University, James Reid said he was determined to make the most of his time in Australia. James will study literature and will access CDU’s specialised areas of Indigenous Arts and Traditional Knowledge.
Manager International Marketing and Recruitment, Fiona Richards said she was delighted at the record number of students participating in the study abroad and exchange programs.
“As we continue to strengthen relationships with our partner universities, it is pleasing to see an increase in the number of incoming exchange and study abroad students,” she said.
Students participating in the semester two exchange programs will assist the International Office in running the Exchange and Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, 3 September.
The event will allow CDU students to learn about spending a semester overseas while still studying towards their degree at CDU.
