Politics and policy: visions of Indigenous progress in the Howard years

This Monday 21 July, Dr Patrick Sullivan, of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS), will present Politics and policy: visions of Indigenous progress in the Howard years.

Dr Sullivan will discuss the Howard Government's mainstreaming of Indigenous policy and the cumbersome nature of the central bureaucracy. He will look to recent developments in local government to outline ways to improve regional autonomy and control of development programs.

Dr Sullivan's presentation is the first of the CDU-AIATSIS joint seminar series Indigenous public policy: responses form the ground, which will combine voices of past and present policy makers with those of Territorians who see how Canberra policy decisions play out in NT communities and organisations.

This presentation will be delivered in Canberra, but video conferenced live to blue building 1, level 1, lecture theatre 19 at midday.

Further details, including an abstract are available at www.cdu.edu.au/sspr/responsesfromtheground.html.
