Charles Darwin University (CDU) campuses are hosting a series of workshops in June for the Australian Council for Adult Literacy.
The workshop series, titled “Getting stuck into it”, teaches hands-on skills suitable for adult literacy teachers.
The morning workshop will explore practical ways to engage students in maths and numeracy, and will be conducted by Dave Tout.
Dave will provide teachers with practical examples of how a range of maths and numeracy topics can be made relevant and practical.
The afternoon session will be conducted by Debbie Soccio on the topic ”Developing a digital story using Photo Story 3”.
In this workshop, Debbie will help staff to incorporate the use of multimedia to document the journeys that students are taking in their own lives and in their formal learning.
The workshops will be conducted on CDU’s Casuarina and Alice Springs campuses over consecutive days.
Darwin workshops will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 9am to 3.45pm.
Alice Springs workshops will be held the following day, on Friday, June 27, also starting at 9am and concluding at 3.45pm.
Lunch, morning and afternoon teas will be provided at both venues.
The workshops are free, but registration is essential by emailing: ntsessions@acal.edu.au.
