Kate Dunn, North by North West: Martin Place, Sydney

Kate Dunn presents a forum on her work in the practice of ceramic and steel on Tuesday 18 March from 12pm to 1pm.

Kate is a Sydney artist who has spent the past four years living and working in Canada and the United States of America. She recently arrived in Darwin and is teaching sculpture at Charles Darwin University.

Kate has exhibited in a wide variety of contexts including Sculpture by the Sea, SOFA Chicago, and numerous gallery exhibits in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Chicago and Santa Fe.

Her practice is predominately ceramic and steel, and encompasses gold lame’. The themes in her work include a fascination with the 19th century desire to organise and categorise the natural world.

This manifests in her work in the repetition of organic forms constrained within various frames. The forum will include images of Kate’s work and the places which have influenced her.

This forum takes place in room 1, level 1, building 22 (C22.1.01), Casuarina campus, Charles Darwin University.
