Winners of the 2008 Charles Darwin University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Prize and Dean’s Scholarships received their awards at a recent ceremony.

Presenting the awards were CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Garnett, Dean of Education, Health and Science Professor Graham Pegg and Dean of Law, Business and Arts Professor Adrian Walter.

Recipients and their families gathered in the Vice-Chancellor’s rooms for the ceremony.

Three generations of women from the Koulianos family came to see the youngest female member of their clan, Maria, receive the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize.

Maria is studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws, and along with the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize she was also awarded the 2008 National Australia Bank Law Scholarship.

Her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were present to see her receive the award.

Three Vice-Chancellor’s awards and three Dean’s Scholarships were awarded this year.

Other winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize were Ashlee Fong, studying Bachelor of Applied Science and Luka Bisevac, studying Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Applied Science.

This year’s recipients of Dean’s Scholarships in Law, Business and Arts are both studying double degrees: Nadia D’Souza, Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Laws; and Joshua Miles, Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Commerce.

Susan Glencross, who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Behavioural Science, was presented with the Dean’s Scholarship in Education, Health and Science.
