A customised transportable unit that will be auctioned in Alice Springs this Friday is receiving strong interest from potential buyers across central Australia.

The Charles Darwin University Alice Springs campus will auction the two-room, 3.6 by 8 metre unit on-site at 11am Friday December 12. It was created by construction and electrical apprentices using locally supplied materials.

Framptons First National Real Estate’s David Forrest will take charge of the auction which has received strong interest throughout the community.

Head of Trades (central) at CDU Justin Busse said he expected the sale proceeds to cover building costs and enable the purchase of some new equipment at the Alice Springs campus.

“Local suppliers have given us some great rates for their material, so we are confident that the sale should cover costs and help us to invest in new equipment,” he said.

Mr Busse also extended this thanks to Frampton’s auctioneer David Forrest for his assistance and a host of local building industry suppliers and consultants for their discounted rates.

“We are grateful for their skills and input into this unit,” he said.
