CDU excels at Chief Minister's Export and Industry Awards

Charles Darwin University has enjoyed outstanding success at the recent Chief Minister's Export and Industry Awards.

CDU took top honours in the Enterprise Connect Services Award category, the first time the institution has done so.

Sponsored by Enterprise Connect, an Australian Government initiative, the award recognised CDU’s outstanding international student results for 2008.

The Enterprise Connect Services Award acknowledges outstanding export achievement in a services industry, and recognised the innovation, hard work and success of CDU’s International Office in reaching new markets.

Manager, International Marketing & Recruitment, Fiona Richards said that in recent times CDU’s international education activities had contributed significantly to economic development in the NT.

“Full fee paying international students attending the University buy goods and services such as transport, accommodation, utilities, health and tourism,” she said.

“For every dollar they spend on education, they spend at least three dollars on these local services.

“Our international students stimulate the local economy, enhance the cultural diversity of the NT, enrich the experiences of fellow students and citizens, and engender harmony and tolerance of differences in our communities.”

The NT Chief Minister's Export & Industry Awards are the Territory's most prestigious business awards. The Awards acknowledge the important contribution that Northern Territory businesses make to the local economy through job creation and increased prosperity in the community.
