Business, community and other Charles Darwin University supporters came together on Thursday night for the CDU Foundation’s end of year celebration.
More than 140 people gathered in the foyer of the Mal Nairn Auditorium to celebrate the work of the Foundation which encourages donations to promote the University’s development.
The Administrator of the Northern Territory, His Honour Mr Tom Pauling QC, who was guest speaker at the event, told the gathering that the Foundation’s fund-raising efforts to date totalled $15 million which was a tribute to the organisation.
He said there were two types of university foundations. The first asked what a university could do for it and the second asked what it could do for the university. CDU’s Foundation was part of the latter category, Mr Pauling said.
The Foundation helps to fund priority projects at the University such as scholarships and prizes, research fellowships, teaching and learning resources, the University Art Collection, the International Guitar Festival, and facilities.
Guests included the Indonesian Consul Harbangan Napitupulu and Vice-Counsul Buchari Bakar, Acting Lord Mayor Kerry Moir, former Territory Administrator the Hon Austin Asche and a former CDU Chancellor Nancy Giese.
