Education for... what? 

 
 

A public forum on Aboriginal education will be held on Tuesday 2 October in CDU’s Mal Nairn Auditorium from 7.30pm.

Topic for discussion will include:

  • What should the curriculum be?
  • Where do traditional language, culture and law fit into the school curriculum?
  • Who is qualified to teach Aboriginal culture and law?
  • Where to after primary and secondary school?
  • How can the school provide effective programs to combat substance abuse, crime, child sexual abuse, etc.?
  • Should the government withhold welfare payments because of truancy?

Panel members include Rev. Dr Chris Budden, Malcolm Pritchard, principal, Kormilda College, Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann, principal, St Francis Xavier School, Hon Paul Henderson, NT Minister Education, Employment and Training, and Richard Trudgen, CEO, Aboriginal Resource and Development Services Inc.

The audience will be invited to pose questions to the panel.

Tea and coffee will be served after the forum.
