In May this year the Indigenous Academic Support Unit (IASU) at Charles Darwin University commemorated the National Day of Healing by organising ‘Aunties Talking’ in collaboration with the Garden Point Association. The event was well attended and enjoyed by all.
The IASU are pleased to announce that the ‘Aunties’ are back by popular demand and the ‘Aunties Talking’ event will take place on Tuesday 7 August at 12pm in the Seminar Room, Building 30, Casuarina Campus - all are invited.
‘Aunties Talking’ is Aunty Maria Tomlins and Aunty Florrie Nicholls, survivors of the Stolen Generation, who will talk about their experiences growing up at Garden Point and Croker Island Missions. The informal talk will be followed by a screening of the video, Retracing Our Footsteps (Garden Point).
A light lunch will be provided so please RSVP your attendance to Cheri Williams as soon as possible on 8946 7763 or email cheri.williams@cdu.edu.au.
