MSHR seminar series

Lyn O’Donoghue, Bernadette Shield and Nikki Clelland present ‘Best practice promotion in Indigenous communities’, on Monday 30 July from 12pm to 1pm.

Globally, chronic disease is recognised as a major health problem for Indigenous populations. To reduce this burden, a range of chronic disease prevention and health promotion strategies are now being implemented.

Lyn, Bernie and Nikki have recently returned from Canada, where they had the opportunity to work alongside and learn about how Cree and Mohawk First Nation communities are tackling this important issue. They will share examples of these strategies and their experiences of Indigenous culture.

Nikki Clelland is with Menzies School of Health Research; Lyn O’Donoghue and Bernadette Shields are with NT Department of Health and Community Services.

This seminar takes place in the Menzies Seminar Room, John Mathews Building, Royal Darwin Hospital Campus.

Visit the Menzies School of Health Research website for information about this and future seminars.
