Internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso Eduardo Fernandez, a major featured artist atTthe Seventh Darwin International Guitar Festival, will appear in his only Australian concert this evening at the Charles Darwin University Theatre.
Fernandez, who hails from Uruguay, has been playing guitar since the age of seven and is now recognised as one of the greatest guitar virtuosi on the concert circuit. He is also active as a teacher, researcher, and composer, as well as being highly sought after to present lectures and master classes internationally. He is also the Artistic Director of Montevideo’s biannual International Guitar Festival.
Eduardo Fernandez is a consummate artist playing with great success all over the world, receiving numerous accolades acknowledging his skill not only a guitarist, but also as a great musician.
'In most hands, the classical guitar is a lovely instrument of intense difficulty and narrow expressive range. Eduardo Fernandez's recital... reversed the impression, offering a startling breadth of interpretative possibilities and making us forget how hard the guitar really is to play... not only a superior guitarist but a superior musician as well.' (NY Times)
As part of the evening concert series, Eduardo Fernandez will be playing on Friday 13 July, 8.00pm, at CDU Theatre, performing an exciting program which will include two suites by JS Bach, as well as works by the Mexican composer Manuel Ponce and Argentinean composer Carlos Guastavino.
