Young people in Alice Springs have benefited from a live music show held this weekend by Charles Darwin University (CDU) VTE music students at local venue The Todd Tavern Hotel.
The underage gig was arranged by ex-CDU student Carl Stella who brought together local bands to provide underage entertainment.
His band, Nights Plague also performed on Saturday night.
Around 70 per cent of all bands performing were studying or had completed the CDU vocational and technical education (VTE) music program.
CDU music lecturer Cain Gilmour said it was important for bands to practise at live gigs.
'Hopefully they will inspire other musicians from the VTE program to take the initiative, approach venues and showcase their skills to the public,’ he said. ‘You can teach students everything there is to know, but doing it yourself is another thing all together.'
