The Charles Darwin University Foundation will be holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday, 23 May.
The CDU Foundation was established in 1993 to enhance the relationship between the University and the wider Northern Territory community.
While the University receives funding from both the Commonwealth and Northern Territory governments for essential recurrent and capital costs, the Foundation was established to generate the extra funds needed for investment in a wide variety of programs, projects and infrastructure. Donations from individuals and organisations support, for example:
- Scholarships and prizes;
- Research fellowships;
- Teaching and learning resources, including the library;
- The University Art Collection;
- The International Guitar Festival; and
- Facilities and general resources.
The Foundation has raised more than $15 million to date. Contributions are both cash and in-kind and may be targeted to specific projects if requested.
The Darwin Scholarship Presentation Ceremony following from the Foundation AGM brings together scholarship donors and recipients. The amount of scholarship donations have greatly increased in 2007 to over 80 with 44 scholarships being presented at the Darwin ceremony which will commence at 5:30pm at the Mal Nairn Auditorium. Donors will be presenting scholarship certificates to the recipients. The ceremony will be attended by approximately 200 guests.
A separate ceremony will be held for an extra eight recipients in Alice Springs on 15 June at Alice Springs Campus.
