Students can learn first-hand about the jobs market

Graduates and students completing their studies will have the chance to take a close look at the jobs market at the Graduate Recruitment Fair on April 3.

Many of the country’s biggest employer groups will be represented at the Fair, which will be set up on the basketball court at Student Square on the Casuarina campus of Charles Darwin University.

Employers include Alcan, BHP Billiton, KPMG, Energy Resources Australia, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Coca-cola Amatil, Chandler Macleod and Defence Force Recruiting. There will also be many small to medium-sized firms setting up their stalls.

The employers are interested in talking not only to graduates but to students still at university or studying VTE courses. In the past there have been examples of firms agreeing to take on students while still studying, offering them holiday jobs and even cadetships.

The Graduate Recruitment Fair is a chance to meet potential employers face-to-face, ask plenty of questions and get a feel for the kind of employment that might suit you. At the same time employers are keen to find out what kind of person you might be, and how you would fit into their own workforce.

The Fair will run from 11am to 5pm on April 3.
