Clean Up Australia Day

Get involved in Clean Up Australia on Sunday 4 March and don’t let rubbish become part of the scenery.

The Clean Up Australia organisation aims to inspire and work with communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

The inspiration of solo yachtsman, Ian Kiernan, the first Clean Up Australia Day took place in 1990 with 300 000 volunteers donating their time.

Since then more than eight million hours has seen the collection of over 200 000 tonnes of rubbish, and the event turning international through the launch of Clean Up the World Day in 1993 through the support of the United Nations Environment Programme.

With hundreds of thousands of Australians volunteering to clean up Australia each year, find out how you can become involved by visiting www.cleanup.org.au or free call 1800 CUADAY (1800 282 329).
