Ian Symonds recently joined Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) Corporate Communications team as acting web manager and consultant on the soon-to-be-introduced Content Management System (CMS).
The University’s (Internet and Intranet) is undergoing an exciting transition and Ian’s principal task is to project manage the rollout of a CMS, with a vision to providing a dynamic electronic platform that will support core CDU business activities and better meet audience needs.
When complete, the University’s website will be replaced by a fresh design, with more relevance for site visitors. Information will be easier to find with improved navigation and searching.
There will be improvements in the way people at CDU can contribute to the web site, with enhanced information management practices and no special tools required.
Ian is working with Corporate Communications and its small web team, and a steering committee that includes Director, Corporate Communications, Cas Bennetto, Information Technology and Management Services Director, Roy Pidgeon and Scott Snyder, Executive Director of CDU’s Corporate Services, in development of the CMS.
A senior information technology consultant with Dialog Information Technology, Ian has been in Darwin since 1983.
