Lorenzo credits Casuarina campus for career success

Lorenzo Templonuevo began his Master in Development Management (MDM) at the Northern Territory University (now Charles Darwin University) in 1998.

Originally from Manila in the Philippines, Lorenzo received an AusAID scholarship to study at NTU which gave him an opportunity to live in Darwin for a year, which he says, “turned out to be one of the most pleasantly unforgettable years of my life”.

Lorenzo described the Casuarina campus as “very impressive”.

“My fellow students then were fun to be with and were very supportive especially of international students like me. The library was excellent and really inspired and helped me in all my study and research activities. Teaching was world class,” he said.

Lorenzo now works for the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and is currently based in GTZ’s SMEDSEP Cebu Office - SMEDSEP stands for ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Development for Sustainable Employment Program’.

He is the Program Officer responsible for SMEDSEP demand-driven technical vocational education and training component. Lorenzo’s work entails provision of technical advice in market analysis, product and market development to training service providers in Cebu and Negros Occidental.

In 2000, barely two years after accepting the MDM degree from NTU, Lorenzo’s career aspiration of working for an international development agency in the Philippines has been fulfilled.
