Former university student, Amber Favis, is set to receive the Best Master of Engineering Management Student award from Charles Darwin University (CDU) in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Amber, who successfully completed her Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the University of the Philippines in 2002, will receive the award in Manila on Wednesday 3 May.
Having gained her Bachelor in 2002, Amber then spent four months working locally at a large scale construction company. However wanting to further her career, Amber assessed the options open to her.
“Ultimately, I wanted to get into an engineering management role in the construction industry.
“While working in the Philippines I found out about the engineering courses available at Charles Darwin University, and the courses sounded perfect,” she said.
Amber applied and was accepted for a scholarship position in the Masters of Engineering Management course at CDU and began her studies in March last year.
Amber praised her lecturers and the support she was given throughout her studies: “The support I have been given is fantastic and the unique student-teacher interaction at CDU is terrific.”
Head of School of Engineering and Logistics Dr Friso De Boer said: “Engineering at CDU is entering into an exciting phase of growth, due to many local large scale engineering projects currently underway. There is now a strong demand for CDU engineering graduates.”
