Charles Darwin University certificate II and III music students in Alice Springs treated staff and students to a lunchtime concert at the neighbouring Centralian Senior Secondary College last week.
CDU Music Lecturer Ronny Reinhard said the music courses have attracted record enrolments this year in Alice Springs, jumping from approximately 16 last semester to 28.
Local musician Cain Gilmour has now been employed as a part-time lecturer to help teach the students.
The students attend Centralian Senior Secondary College and are completing their music studies through the CDU’s VET in Schools program, covering performance, music production and education about the music industry.
Tuesday’s concert included a range of 'unplugged' popular cover songs performed by different groups of students.
