Charles Darwin University (CDU) Palmerston librarian Jayshree Mamtora is taking up a new position at the Casuarina campus in 2007.
Her new role as research services coordinator focuses on the specific information needs of researchers and postgraduate students.
‘Few Australian universities have librarians with such a specific brief, so I’m looking forward to the exciting new challenge,’ she said.
She leaves Palmerston CDU today (20 December) and starts at the Casuarina campus early January.
Jayshree joined the Palmerston campus in 2002, developing numerous programs to enhance and promote the services of the Palmerston library to the wider CDU community.
Jayshree was involved in the planning for the new learning precinct in Palmerston, due to open February 2007. Her role included planning the library’s integration with the new precinct, taking into account the needs of staff and students at the campus.
‘It was a challenging role for me but I gained great satisfaction from helping to develop an efficient, friendly and accessible library.
‘Through this, my greatest satisfaction was the working relationships developed with staff and students who were always welcoming and great to work with,’ she said.
CDU Palmerston campus administrator Nyree Terry said Jayshree’s approachable manner made staff and students feel very comfortable at the library.
‘Her excellent client focus and communication skills will be considerably missed from this campus and I wish her the very best at Casuarina,’ she said.
