Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) community engagement website is now up and running at www.cdu.edu.au/communityandaccess/communityengagement/. Community engagement is key to all of CDU's activities, characterised by two way relationships in which the University forms partnerships with its communities to yield mutually beneficial outcomes.
The website shows how community engagement is relevant to CDU’s teaching and learning, research, business development, community and access and corporate services. It links to CDU and partner websites, to related conferences, documents, publications, stories and other highlights.
Linda Cuttriss, coordinator community engagement says, ‘The website is a great vehicle for showing how community engagement links across the whole university; between core business areas and across disciplines. How engagement connects students, lecturers and researchers with industry, the professions, government and non-government agencies, schools and local communities.
‘Stories of people working together – learning, teaching, exchanging knowledge, generating new knowledge and solving problems together – bring the website to life,’ says Linda. ‘The stories put a human face to the term “community engagement”.
‘The website is also a powerful way of recognising the good work that people are doing. You can celebrate your partnerships and share your successes,’ says Linda.
The website is in the ‘start-up’ phase. It is designed to evolve and grow over time. All CDU staff and community partners are invited to comment, contribute ideas, stories, links and other highlights. Stories will be published in CDU’s online newsletter, enews, and then posted to the website.
