A small pre-dawn fire on the Casuarina campus of Charles Darwin University has damaged the reception area of the Crocodylus practice firm today (November 2). Because of smoke and the associated smell extending throughout Building 22, scheduled activities have been relocated to other parts of the University. A 50cm saltwater crocodile housed in the damaged area survived the fire, and was relocated to the Crocodylus wildlife park this morning.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and the fire brigade is investigating.
An estimate of the damage is still being made.
