Charles Darwin University (CDU) business administration student and Mayor of Palmerston, Annette Burke, has won a scholarship worth $50,000.
Mayor Burke won the Australian Rural Leadership scholarship after being encouraged to do apply by Dean of the Faculty of Law, Business and Arts, Adrian Walter.
Mayor Burke is currently doing a thesis in business administration and will receive her Doctorate in late 2006.
'The study I have undertaken to gain the scholarship has taught me much about leadership and management skills and comes as a great surprise,' she said.
Already holding a Masters in Applied Linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts, Mayor Burke’s current studies have taken her as far as South America.
