Chance to use your eco-mind

Eco-minded students are being offered the chance to become environmental ambassadors and attend a youth forum in Bangkok, Thailand next year.

Three Australian university students will be chosen to take part in the Eco-Minds youth forum for sustainable development from May 31 to June 3, 2007.

Eco-Minds, now in its second year, is organised as part of a global partnership between Bayer and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and aims to foster awareness and knowledge of environmental issues among youth in the Asia Pacific region.

Eco-Minds provides the opportunity for young Australians to work with delegates from eight other countries to develop creative and practical solutions for sustainable development which may potentially influence Australia's ecological future.

Students who would like the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, expand their knowledge of sustainable development, meet inspiring people and fast track their career development, are encouraged to apply.

To be considered you will need to detail your existing involvement in sustainable development activities, and write a 1000-word essay on a sustainable river basin.

The competition closes on Friday 30 March 2007.

Applications are open to students:

  • Enrolled in an Australian university
  • Aged 18 to 24 years on 31 May, 2007
  • From any discipline
  • Available to travel overseas and obtain a valid passport by 30 April 2007
  • Willing and able to work well within a group.
