'I wanted to study my course in a relaxed, friendly, personal and practical atmosphere; and I got this at CDU', says Helena Ryan, who is studying a Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Behavioural Science.

What are you studying at CDU?
Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Behavioural Science

Why did you want to study at CDU?
I moved from Victoria because I wanted a change in lifestyle. I love the relaxed study environment at CDU, and the lifestyle that Darwin has. Having accommodation facilities which is a two minute walk from the Campus also influenced me to study at CDU.

What are you doing now, work wise?
Coming from a different state, I thought it would be difficult to get a job, but people here are so friendly and helpful that I got a job straight away. I am currently working at Pumpkin Patch, Casuarina.

Career aspirations:
I want to graduate from my degree and be able to travel around the world and possibly work as a nurse in other countries.

Interests and hobbies:
I enjoy shopping and socialising with friends.

What are the key things that have helped you through your studies?
The nursing lecturers have provided me with the motivation to continue study here at CDU. The support from my family and friends has also been helpful.

Best aspects of studying your course with CDU?
The course is really interesting and practical. The facilities in the nursing lab are great as students have the opportunity to experience and learn nursing procedures that are practical and can be applied to real life situations.

The University offers a range of helpful support services that a student requires during their studies.

North Flinders International House is so close to the Campus and convenient.

Tips/words of wisdom for prospective students?
Because of the small-size classes, teaching is personal, so don’t be afraid to ask for help. Someone will always be there for assistance. CDU is one of the friendliest and most relaxed places to study.
