More than 900 people will graduate at Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) formal graduation ceremony for 2006.
Over 200 grandaunts will attend the ceremony where they will receive formal recognition of successfully completing their studies.
The ceremony, to be held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre on 13 October, will recognise the academic achievements of students from both higher education and VET sectors.
More than 600 guests are expected to attend the ceremony.
At 58, the soon to be known Dr Paul Horner will be the oldest CDU student to graduate at the ceremony after 25 years of study.
“I have not come to grips with becoming a doctor after all this time,” he said.
“It’s a great personal satisfaction and this will open a few doors for me career wise.”
Mr Horner took nine years to complete his PhD, during which he identified several new species of lizards.
The CDU graduation ceremony will be held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre on October 13, with proceeding commencing at 6.30pm.
