Charles Darwin University (CDU) bakery coordinator and lecturer, Robert Schwerdt, could not be happier with the performance of the Territory baking team at the recent Australia Fine Food Exhibition.
The exhibition, held in Melbourne from 11-14 September, saw the Territory team for the first time ever place in the top three.
The Territory team consisting of Robert Schwerdt, School of Tourism and Hospitality, apprentice bakers Jamie Adams of Bakers Delight Casuarina, and Priscilla Willcockson of Coles Palmerston, claimed third place at the coveted awards.
“Everyone is extremely proud of both Jamie and Priscilla, especially Jamie who is the first Territory-trained baker to ever win a national baking medal,” Robert said.
However Jamie was quick to acknowledge the efforts of team mate Priscilla and that the award was won by team effort.
“I would personally like to thank all of our sponsors including CDU, Bidvest, Goodman Fielder, Arafura Catering and Palmerston Bakery for their help in our achievement,” said Robert.
The Territory team entered the championship well prepared with a strategy and presentation which revolved around the Territory lifestyle.
