Staff development opportunity for academic staff

Charles Darwin University (CDU) staff seeking to further their teaching skills are encouraged to enrol in the new Graduate Certificate in Education (GCE) in Semester 3 2006.

Using a community of learners approach, the Graduate Certificate in Education (tertiary teaching and learning specialisation) is a short, accredited professional development program which provides a pathway into the Master of Education, enabling teachers and educators to restructure and strengthen their career opportunities.

The course extends the practical and theoretical knowledge in specialist areas of education; enables graduates to be leaders in the field of their specialist area; and introduces teachers and educators to recent developments and research in their fields of specialisation.

The GCE, delivered in external mode, is available for enrolment in semester 3 of this year (the semester runs from 11 September to 24 November, last day for enrolment is 30 September 2006). This 40 credit point, four-unit program can be taken in part-time mode (one or two units per semester).

In order to be considered for enrolment into the program, staff will need to complete a web based application for admission form available at http://staffnet.cdu.edu.au/forms/staff_application_admission_gce06.html.

This is a significant opportunity for academic staff to upgrade their credentials in teaching and learning.

Any queries regarding access to the program can be directed to Eike Pakeha on extension 6136 or email eike.pakeha@cdu.edu.au.
