Fujen cultural evening

Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) cultural diversity was again on show as it made welcome a group of students from the Fujen University, Taiwan, last week.

The students visited the School of Australian Indigenous Knowledge Systems (SAIKS) to study Indigenous cultural awareness and Australia as a near neighbour.

As a part of their visit, the students were guests of honor at an informal meet and greet SAIKS BBQ lunch held on 28 August.

The two-day visit culminated in a display of cultural music and dance by the students as a part of the Fujen cultural evening.

The cultural evening, held at the CDU Sports Association, showcased some of Taiwan’s high energy traditional music and dance which proved extremely popular.

Executive officer for the School of Australian Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Terry Pailthorpe, said the Fujen visit was a great opportunity to once again embrace our near neighbors and strengthen CDU's international status.
