The 13th Australasian Hydrographic Conference, from 29 August to 1 September, will bring together people from all over the Asia-Pacific region to discuss recent advances in the hydrographic industry.
Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) own Dr Guy Boggs and Professor Eric Valentine will be among the speakers; Eric, Foundation Chair of Civil Engineering, will provide the Keynote Address and Guy, lecturer in GIS, will speak about the use of Geographic Information Systems in catchment assessment for water source protection.
"This is an extremely important event to be held in Darwin, particularly at at a time in which the water resources of northern Australia are receiving so much attention,” said Guy.
“It is vital that we continue to examine new ways to understand this valuable resource and I am looking forward to hearing about the new and exciting approaches experts are using around Australia and abroad," he added.
This year’s theme, Interactive Hydrography - Future Directions, reflects how understanding the dynamics of water is essential for successful infrastructure design and the ecologically sustainable use of the world’s marine and freshwater environments.
The conference will encourage discussion on projects that improve the interaction of hydrographic, industry and community groups.
The conference, presented by the Australian Hyrographic Association, will be held at SKYCITY Casino, Darwin.
