The annual Sculpture in the Park, held from 6-13 August, saw a large selection of Charles Darwin University (CDU) fine arts students participate with thought provoking and imaginative works installed throughout Darwin’s Civic Park.
Part of the Fringe Festival and Darwin Festival, the works were seen by a large and diverse crowd.
Many of the students won awards and the project has added to their confidence by providing a professional link into exhibiting and community arts.
Exhibiting students were Adrienne Kneebone, Glynis Lee, Jean Martin, Imbi Davidson, Ben Shimeld, Fiona Gavino, Aly de Groot, Rozzi George and Carol Phayer.
Adrienne took out the NT Reflective Award receiving a $250 gift voucher; Ben was awarded the J Bird Memorial Prize for the innovative use of recycled materials, receiving $500; Rozzi was awarded the Paspaley People’s Choice, receiving $2000; and Glynis received an Honourable mention.
CDU staff members Georgia Glen and Tobias Richardson (Honourable mention) also exhibited work.
