The Sasak Dance Group from Lombok, Indonesia attracted great interest with a recent preview of their highly anticipated Darwin Festival performance at Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) Casuarina Campus.
The popular dance group performed at CDU as a part of their third visit to Australia for the Citra Sasak Dance Club from Lombok, Mataram.
Coordinator of community engagement, Linda Cuttriss, said the beautifully choreographed performance was a hit with CDU staff and students.
“The group performed dances from various provinces throughout Indonesia ranging from East Indonesia to West Indonesia.
“The performance at the Casuarina Campus was a special preview for Pesona Indonesia 2006—a cultural night that was one of the most anticipated events on the Darwin Festival calendar,” Linda said.
Pesona Indonesia 2006 featured the Sasak Dance Group, a Dangdut singer from Surabaya, Darma Nusantara Pencak Silat Group from Melbourne and local performers.
Pesona Indonesia 2006 was presented as part of the Darwin Festival at the Gardens Amphitheatre on 19 August.
