Gil Sullivan performs the complete set of Mozart's piano sonatas at the CDU Theatre from 22-26 August

2006 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Darwin Festival will celebrate the birthday with international concert pianist, Gil Sullivan, performing his five-program recital series of the complete piano sonatas of Mozart at the Charles Darwin University Theatre from August 22 to 26.

Gil Sullivan is one of the only pianists in the world who plays the entire piano works of Mozart. His recordings of the complete sonatas will be released internationally throughout this year with ABC Classics on CD, and filmed performances on ABC DVDs.

He has been described in the European press as “Not just another pianistic wizard, but a cultured and refined musician, whose rare and insightful vision into the very soul of the music cast a magical spell over the entire concert hall” (Badische Zeitung, Germany). In Australia, critics have been equally enthusiastic: “Playing informed by brilliance of tone and accuracy... invariably placed at the service of the music” (The Australian).

Bookings can be taken at 8980 3333 or online www.darwinfestival.org.au or www.darwinentertainment.com.au.

Tickets are $25 or $20 concession or a season pass for all five performances is $90.
